Updates

An accessibility audit of the Salpaus website was carried out in November 2025. The results have been compiled into our accessibility statement, and improvement work is currently underway. We will update the progress on this page regularly.

Accessibility Audit 2025

A comprehensive accessibility audit of the Salpaus website was performed on 7 November 2025.
The audit included both automated testing and a manual expert review. Based on the results, the website is largely compliant with WCAG 2.2 Level A and AA requirements. However, some issues were identified, and we are currently fixing them.

Key findings

The audit revealed several issues, including:

  • Inconsistent or incomplete alt text (length, clarity, relevance)
  • Missing subtitles and accessible alternatives for videos
  • Errors in heading levels and page structure
  • Insufficient colour contrast and elements that are difficult to distinguish from the background
  • Keyboard navigation issues in menus and forms
  • Unclear required-field indicators and form instructions
  • Missing labels or descriptions for iframe elements and some form fields
  • Lack of announcements for automatically updated content for screen reader users

We are actively working on these issues and will publish updates on this page.

Accessibility of attachments

Some attachments on the site (such as PDF files) are not fully accessible. We are improving these files whenever they are updated. If you need an accessible version of a specific document, you can request it from us.

How we are improving accessibility

We are currently developing and implementing the following improvements:

  • Updating and improving alt text
  • Standardising heading structure across the site
  • Fixing colour contrast issues
  • Clarifying form structure and instructions
  • Improving keyboard navigation in menus and forms
  • Adding missing labels and descriptive identifiers
  • Ensuring screen readers are notified when content on the page changes

The fixes will be implemented in phases and tested before release.
