Annual tuition fees at Salpaus (from 1.8.2026)
Due to changes in Finnish legislation, Salpaus charges tuition fees to certain groups of students. The amount of the tuition fee is about 10 000 € per year. The tuition fee for the first year must be paid before you can start your studies.
Who will be required to pay tuition fees?
If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU and EEA, you may have to pay an annual tuition fee for vocational education in Finland. The tuition fee applies to you if your first residence permit was issued on the basis of your studies in Finland or if you have received your first residence permit on the basis of your family member’s studies.
You do not have to pay an annual tuition fee if you are a citizen of the European Union, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland. The fee also does not apply to citizens of Ukraine until 4 March 2027. After this, their temporary protection will cease.
There are also some other exemptions to paying tuition fees. For example, you will not need to pay the tuition fee if you are subject to compulsory education in Finland, have a permanent residence permit in Finland, or have been granted international or temporary protection here.
When did Salpaus start charging tuition fees?
The annual tuition fees apply to all students mentioned above who begin their studies at Salpaus on or after August 1, 2026.
What does the tuition fee include?
The tuition fee includes your annual tuition. You will also be entitled to student support services and to receive support for your learning and special needs.
The tuition fee does not include free meals, accommodation or study materials.
Degree-specific costs at Salpaus Further Education
During your studies, you may be required to purchase study materials, tools and supplies, work clothing and/or work shoes or pay for licenses and/or government fees. Only students who are subject to compulsory education in Finland (oppivelvollinen) will be exempt from these charges.
