Admission criteria
Salpaus Further Education offers trainings ranging from short entry-level vocational courses to programmes designed for experienced professionals. There are several application routes to Salpaus Further Education. Each of these routes have their own, specfic admission criteria.
Please, always check admission criteria before applying to Salpaus. You will find the admission criteria and specific requirements for each training on the introductory page of the training on Salpaus website.
The admission criteria may include:
- Age limits. For some of our programmes the applicants must be at least 18 years old, and some driver trainings also have age limits.
- Driver’s license or professional driver qualification may be required for our driving educatio programmes.
- A job or an internship may be required to start some of our programmes.
- Previous skills and experience may be required (further and specialist vocational qualifications)
NOTE! We will no longer interview applicants who filed their applications for vocational upper secondary qualifications (perustutkinto) on or after 1.5.2026. We will select students for these programmes based on their applications. However, we use entrance exams for student selection for certain programmes.
Finnish language requirements
As we only teach in Finnish, there are Finnish language requirements for all of our vocational programs. If Finnish is not your first language, you must either pass a Finnish language test or submit a language certificate which Salpaus approves.
We accept applications from intenational applicants. However, their Finnish language skills will be verified before proceeding with the application process. Our language tests or entrance interviews cannot be taken online. All applicants must travel to our campus in Lahti for the language tests. If there is an interview, it will take place on the campus that you are applying to study at.
You are responsible for your application and other documents
Please note that each applicant must apply to Salpaus personally and the student selection process is the same for every applicant. Unfortunately, Salpaus does not cooperate with agents or recruiting companies that wish to send foreign student groups to study at Salpaus Further Education. We are also not able to assist applicants in applying for visas or residence permits to Finland.
