  2. Joint Application System (yhteishaku). Only one application period annually (February-March). Students are selected based mostly on their Finnish comprehensive school grades.

  4. Apprenticeship Training (oppisopimus). If you have a suitable job, you can apply flexibly and combine studying and working.
  5. Registration (ilmoittautuminen). You can register online for our shorter courses and Finnish language courses. The groups will be filled in the order of registration.

Continuous Application (jatkuva haku)

Continuous application is a flexible way to apply to vocational qualifications and TUVA-training at Salpaus. Each program has their own application periods and start dates. You can apply by filling out an application form to the program that you are interested in at Opintopolku.fi website.

There may be age limits for some programs in continuous application. For our driver trainings (logistics) we also require driver’s licenses and professional qualification certificates. There are also some degree-specific healt requirements for some of our trainings. You will find information on these requirements on the application form.

If your native language is not Finnish, you need to have proof of your Finnish language skill level. If you don’t have a language certificate that we can accept, you will need to take a language test. The language test cannot be taken online. You will have to travel to Lahti, Finland to take the language test. You can only proceed in the student selection process if you pass the language test.

Depending on the training that you applied to, we may also invite you to an interview or an entrance examination. You will receive instructions for these by e-mail. If there is no interview or entrance examination, we will select students based on their applications. You may also be asked to confirm that your application is still valid.

Joint Application System (yhteishaku)

If you have not yet completed secondary vocational education, general upper secondary school or a matriculation examination in Finland, you can also apply through the joint application system (yhteishaku). It is possible to apply to most of our vocational upper secondary qualifications (perustutkinnot) and TUVA-training through the joint application system.

The joint application system is only open once every year. The application period is in February-March. You need to check the exact dates for each year.

To apply through the joint application system, fill out an application on Opintopolku.fi website. You can apply to up to 7 programmes on the same application. Applicants are scored based on their basic education certificates and some other factors. Some vocational programmes will select their students based on entrance examinations.

Normally you need a Finnish 9-year basic education certificate to apply through the joint application system. If you do not have a Finnish basic education certificate, it may still be possible to apply. Your application may be considered in the discretionary admission process (harkintaan perustuva valinta).

Please note that all teaching is in Finnish only
