Accessibility Statement

Salpaus Further Education strives to ensure the accessibility of its website salpaus.fi in
accordance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services(You are being redirected to another service.).

This statement is based on an inspection performed with testing software, as well as an
assessment by the tester. The statement was prepared on November 7, 2025.

Status of Accessibility

This website for the most parts meets the levels A and AA requirements set out in the
Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2.

Non-Accessible Content

The website is not yet fully compliant with the accessibility requirements:

  • The length, content, and relevance of alt texts are inconsistent, which weakens the accessibility and comprehensibility of image content. (WCAG 1.1.1)
  • No accessible alternative or captions are provided for the video content. (WCAG 1.2.1)
  • There are several heading level and structural errors on the website, causing the page hierarchy to be misinterpreted by screen readers. In addition, in some cases, visually grouped elements such as checkboxes are not logically grouped in the code. (WCAG 1.3.1)
  • Some information is conveyed by color alone without any other visual indicator. (WCAG 1.4.1)
  • In some places, links, texts, and interactive elements do not stand out sufficiently from the surrounding content due to low contrast and a lack of visual identifiers. (WCAG 1.4.3)
  • The Events section does not scale correctly on tablets, breaking the page layout and causing overlapping and missing content. (WCAG 1.4.10)
  • The contrast between user interface elements such as search field borders and icons and their background is too low in several places. (WCAG 1.4.11)
  • Keyboard navigation within menus is not logical: focus moves outside the menu without closing it, and the search field is skipped entirely on mobile. (WCAG 1.4.13)
  • The date picker calendar function cannot be operated using a keyboard. (WCAG 2.1.1)
  • Keyboard focus order does not follow the visual structure logically. (WCAG 2.4.3)
  • In some cases the purpose of links is unclear. Some links do not indicate that they open an external site or file, and the menu close button is ambiguously labeled. (WCAG 2.4.4)
  • For some link boxes, the keyboard focus disappears from view. (WCAG 2.4.7)
  • Some content on the website is in English but not programmatically marked as such for screen readers. (WCAG 3.1.2)
  • Keyboard focus behavior is inconsistent in some cases: it disappears, moves outside menus, or returns to the top of the page, making navigation difficult. (WCAG 3.2.1)
  • Some mandatory form fields are not clearly indicated, placeholder texts do not assist the user, and some content is incorrectly interpreted by screen readers, reducing form usability and clarity. (WCAG 3.3.1)
  • Form error messages and input instructions are not clear to all users: mandatory field indicators, placeholders, and guidance may cause confusion, especially for screen reader users. (WCAG 3.3.2)
  • Some elements are missing labels and descriptions (label for, iframe title), preventing screen readers from conveying the purpose of fields and embedded content to users. (WCAG 4.1.2)
  • Screen readers are not notified when page content updates automatically as a result of user selections, making it difficult for visually impaired users to detect changes. (WCAG 4.1.3)

Supervisory Authority

If you notice accessibility problems on the site, please give feedback to us first. It may
take 14 days for a response. If you are not satisfied with the response you receive or do
not receive a response at all within two weeks, you can make a notification to Finnish
Transport and Communications Agency (Traficom). The website of Traficom explains in
detail how to make a notification and how the matter is handled.
