International competitions
Salpaus Further Education is actively involved in international vocational skills competitions. Salpaus is one of the educational institutes that coach Finnish competitors to the WorldSkills Competitions as well as the annual Finn Skill Competitions. Every year our students take also part to European Association of Hotel and Tourism School competitions.
Salpaus coach competitors in Skills Competitions in the trades of Mechanical Engineering CADD, Joinery, Cabinet making, Jewellery and Confectioner/Pastry Cook.
The WorldSkills Competition is organised every second year. In 2005 the event took place in Helsinki; it was the first time that the competition was organised in the Nordic countries. Salpaus arranged for Helsinki 2005 the Skills Categories in Joinery, Cabinet Making and Jewellery and also the Skill Demonstration in Decoration.
The WorldSkills Competition provides the visitors, competitors, experts and the organisers of the events with an excellent prospect to point vocations, education and the expectations of working life in today’s world, as well as an opportunity to experience the exciting, global atmosphere of an international event. The WorldSkills Competition of 2007 were held in Shizuoka, Japan and Salpaus chose the trainees to the trades mentioned above.
