The Taitaja2014 skills competition was held in Lahti from 8th to 10th of April. At the event around 400 vocational education students competed for Finnish championships in 44 different categories, for example: automobile technology, catering and financial administration.
Altogether over 40 000 visitors gathered at Taitaja2014. This was more than the organizers expected. The competition was held at the Lahti Sports and Fair Centre. Each competition simulated real working-life tasks as much as possible.
The Salpaus team won 11 medals in the competition. Susanna Valtonen won gold in animal husbandry. Also bringing home the gold was Sini Aaltonen and Taru Lammenranta in the tourism pairs competition and Lasse Heikkinen in security skills.
In addition other Salpaus students gained valuable experience by preparing, building and hosting the event, as well as serving and caring for our guests.
